Change to the way messages marked SPAM: are handled

General No Comments »

At the moment, if you have mail forwarding set on your mailbox, email is forwarded from the CIX mail platform immediately. This means that lots of email marked Spam is being sent from CIX mail servers causing our mail server reputation to be lowered. We intend to change this, in future all messages will be processed by the CIX mail rules. This will put any message tagged SPAM into the users Spam folder, and process any other CIX mail rules before forwarding the message onto the desired destination.

CIX subscribers without mail forwarding will have no changes made. CIX subscribers with mail forwarding will not need to do anything. Spam folders will be auto-created for people forwarding mail externally if they do not already exist. Existing forwarding configurations will be retained.

For those that forward their CIX email externally, mail tagged Spam can be accessed either by your own mail client (IMAP) or via http://webmail.cix.co.uk, where you can also see your CIX mail rules, configure forwarding and see your delivery log.

This change will take place on Tuesday 18th March.

CIX is pleased to announce the release of Ameol 2.63.2122

Available from http://www.cixonline.com/downloads/ameol.exe or from cixfile:cix.support/files:a2632122.exe

This is essentially a maintenance release for changes to the CIX platform, although it does now allow moderators to ban participants from conferences/forums they moderate, some changes to mail configuration and a handful of bug fixes.

Details below :-

* Added exit.scr which issues ‘opt syncpointers y q’ to sync Ameol pointers with forums.

* Remove redundant scripts.

* Fix time formatting bug where AM/PM appear in 24-hour times.

* Added Check for Updates to Help menu and remove the CoSy check for update option.

* Fix crash with long URL links.

* Added “Retrieve the ban list for a forum” script.

* Added “Retrieve the user’s own ban list” script.

* Add CIX Support Web Site link to Help menu.

* Fix mail reply subject line issue with ‘Re:’.

* Add ability to configure SMTP and POP3 port number for mail servers.

* Add Ban and Unban commands to Participants dialog.

Ban will ban one or more participants from the selected conference. Unban will prompt for a participant to unban from the selected conference.

You need to be a moderator of the conference to ban and unban participants.

* Clean up Help->Report options and template.

* Undo the change for quotes in the mail To/CC/BCC field for now as that was breaking the address book.

* Add back modems.ini for people who still use them.

* Update CIX dial-up phone number to 08453502999.
